WELCOME
Waalabyeki Magoba is a Ugandan novelist, playwright, folklorist and journalist who writes in Luganda,one of the major languages in Uganda. In 1999 he joined one of the most influential Radio stations in Uganda, Central Broadcasting Service,( CBS) which broadcasts in Luganda, so that he capitalizes on its extensive coverage and popularity to advance the cause for lifelong literacy among his people the majority of whom have a more vibrant listening than a reading culture .For the past twelve years he has used his oral literature radio programme Ekyoto (The fireplace) to persuade the listeners to embrace permanent literacy because it is the surest means of fighting ignorance ,disease and poverty which inhibit development. . collaboration with CBS he established Entanda ya Buganda magazine and became its first editor, a position he holds to date .
The magazine has seen an accelerated growth from 3000 , at inception, to 40,000 copies per print run in 2010.
Through his initiative Central Broadcasting Service started two sister magazines: Entanda y ‘ abavubuka and Entanda y’ abato. The former targets youths the later children
.He is very passionate witht cultivating a robust reading culture in children. that is why he frequents Primary Schools in a bid to popularise the children's magazine to the techers and pupils.Sometimes he arranges meetings with the parents to sensitize them about the need to to buy the magazine for their children and to encourage their offsprings to read extensively.
